Shopify released an update to its discount combination mechanisms in its 2023 Summer Editions update, allowing more discount combination options including combining order discounts. Read more on the latest combination options here
We have updated OMNI to follow the latest mechanisms on August 10, 2023 and enabled all additional combination options. Read more below on what it means for your discount combination settings in OMNI.
What is discount combination?
Discount combinations allow merchants to configure discount codes and automatic discounts to be applied in the same order to enjoy the best discount combinations for various products in your cart under certain restrictions from Shopify.

What does this update mean for my rewards?
If discount combination settings is disabled in your OMNI settings
Nothing has changed. Your OMNI rewards will not be able to be combined with other discounts
If discount combination settings is enabled in your OMNI settings
For any existing or future rewards created after August 10, 2023 - These rewards will automatically apply to the latest set of discount combination settings. You may not switch back to the discount combinations pre-update.
For details on the latest combination options, read here
For any existing rewards created on or before August 10, 2023 - These rewards will not be able to use the new discount combination settings and will continue to use the old discount combination.
If you have discount combination enabled and your store has rewards created both before and after Aug 10, 2023. We suggest removing your old rewards and re-create those rewards to align its discount combination behaviors.

What combination options do I have for rewards created before Augst 10, 2023?
The following combination options are available
order discounts with free shipping discounts
product discounts (buy X get Y, amount off) with free shipping discounts
product discounts with other product discounts
Note: If a product in your cart is eligible for more than 1 discount code applied, only the discount with the deepest discount will be applied to the product. Hence each product in your cart can only have 1 discount applied, but you are able to apply multiple discounts throughout your cart if you have more than 1 product
We currently have the following discount types and they are classified into the following discount classes defined by Shopify
Pay with points (cashback) reward -
This is a order level discount and can be combined with free shipping discounts
Free product rewards -
This is a product level discount and can be combined with other product level discounts and free shipping discounts
Rewards pre-Aug 10, 2023 - other product discounts and shipping discounts
Discount coupons reward - These are other discount codes that you may want to offer to your customers.
% or amount off all products - These are Order discounts and can combine with free shipping discounts
% or amount off selected products / collections or BXGY discounts - Can be combined with other product discounts and shipping discounts
Free Shipping - Free shipping discounts can be combined with product level discounts and order level discounts.
Tier level discounts - Similar to the discount coupons reward, this is an always-on discount code you surface to customers in certain tiers. The class of the discount code depends on the discount code logic you have incorporated. Refer to the "discount coupon reward" section.
