Enable member cards on your storefront that can be scanned with Shopify POS to retrieve customer loyalty information

Pre-requisites

  • You will need the Shopify POS feature for OMNI enabled on your store

  • The OMNI Shopify POS tiles should be setup on your Shopify POS devices

Introduction

If you are using Shopify POS, then you can use the "Member card" feature to

  • Allow your customers to access and save a branded member card from the storefront

  • Allow staff to scan the member cards on your Shopify POS to instantly retrieve a customer's loyalty profile

Customer and merchant experience

Accessing the member cards

Customers can access their member cards on the storefront, depending on which customer account setting they are using on Shopify.

Legacy customer accounts (Classic)

Customers can access the member card within the Accounts widget app block within the my accounts page after logging in.

  • On mobile - Click on "View Member QR Code" located at the top of the interface

  • On desktop - Click on "Member ID" located at the bottom of the tier card

Customer accounts (New)

Customers can access the member card within the "Loyalty program" app extension within the dedicated page extension after logging in

  • On mobile - Click on "See member QR code" located at the top of the interface

  • On desktop - Click on "See member QR code" located at the top right corner of the interface

Saving the member cards

Customers can screenshot the member card and present the screenshot to the staff directly

If the store has enabled the option to save the member card to Apple Wallet, customers can also save the member card to their iOS devices by clicking the "Save to Apple Wallet" button when accessing their member cards.

Scanning the member cards

When a customer presents their membercard from the online store, the screenshot, or the Apple Wallet - merchants can use the "Search customer" POS tile to scan the member cards following the below instructions.

  1. Launch the "Search customer" POS tile from your POS device

  2. Click on "Scan member QR code"

  3. Point the device camera at the member card

The matching customer profile should be surfaced on the POS interface allowing you to see key loyalty information for this customer and add the customer to cart for further operations.

Set up and configuration

If you have the POS feature enabled on OMNI loyalty, you can set up the member card feature within your admin at - Program settings > Retail & POS > Member card

Display member card

Turn on the "display member card" toggle to begin displaying your member card on the storefront.

When you turn on this setting, you should also configure your member card appearance by clicking on the "Customize" button in the member card appearance settings to customize your member card.

You can configure the following settings within the appearance settings

  • Logo icon image (required) - an 1:1 ratio logo image

  • Logo text (required) - Usually set to your store name

  • Strip baanner image

  • Text color

  • Background color

Save to mobile wallet

You can allow the options for customers to save their member cards into their mobile wallets by enabling the respective mobile apple options. Currently Apple Wallet is supported.

Once you enable this option, the Save to mobile wallet buttons will appear beneath your member card.

Reminder

Please note that once a member card is issued (saved) to the customer's mobile wallets, the appearance of the member card will not be updated even if you have modified the appearances. So please make sure you are satisfied with your member card appeanace settings before enabling the save to mobile wallet setting.
